ZAHYR is a first-of-its-kind integrated hydrogen valley in Stara Zagora — the first in the country and one of the few in Central and Eastern Europe. Supported by the EU Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking with a total budget of €24 million over 5 years, ZAHYR demonstrates the complete hydrogen value chain: from green production through storage and distribution to real-world applications in transport and industry.

This is not a laboratory exercise. Real trucks carry real freight. A real university boiler heats a real campus. A real fertilizer producer receives hydrogen for industrial use. Every result ZAHYR generates is grounded in commercial operational reality — and published open access for the world to use. ZAHYR is funded by the Clean Hydrogen JU, the Program for Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Smart Transformation, and private contributions from the project partners.
